To everyone reading this (and even to those that do not), I wish you all a happy new year 2023! I won't talk about expectations or resolutions here, because we all know here that if you want to set a goal for yourself, do it whenever you want, and not when the calendar tells you to :).
Last year I published my first "year review" on gemini[1] (and not on my blog) and I thought I would do the same this year :). Not many things to talk about, as this year has been very busy with "day job" so finding time to write is not always easy. Or maybe it is just my brain not trained well enough to force myself to write instead of doing more passive things sometimes. Anyway, here a short review of 2022 and some plan for 2023.
I wrote only 7 blog posts (compared to 17 in 2021). Looking at previous years, it seems I always wrote a lot more at the start of the year. Apparently it didn't happen this year, at least not on the blog. Only 1 post written in the first 8 months of the year. Looking at my gemlog, I wrote 16 entries (compared to 12 in 2021). 8 of them in the first half of 2021. So it seems my usual "early year" motivation was focused on gemini. Nothing to surprising here as all my few readers know by now my love for the gemini space :).
All together it means 23 entries, 1 shy of an average of 2 per months, so I'm going to set 24 as the goal for 2023 :).
One of the big changes this year was my move to orgmode and thus partially to emacs[2]. Not only I moved all my writings and personal knowledge base to it, but also my todo and notes workflow for work. This was a huge change and I still need to write about how I think I improved at keeping tracks of things, both in term of tasks and information thanks to orgmode. I'm still definitely a n00b with emacs, but I really enjoy the power of org-mode, and intend to continue the though road of orgmode via emacs. It is a painful road, I must admit. And not just because I've been a vim users for so many years^^.
This year I believe I coded more than usual and worked mainly on 4 small things:
Also, all my "official" repos are now on source hut. I'll write later about the different reasons but now I'm working mainly on it. I still push copy to github and codeberg for now. I'm not sure about fully closing all my repos on github though. Still a thinking process.
Not much to talk about this year, it has been more in "maintenance mode" than anything. Day work and the above dev took too much of my free time to spend more time on my homelab. This will have to change in 2023 because normally I'll move to another city during the year. It means I'll need to move all selfhosted services to "the cloud" and also stop all my home automation. Of course, it also implies a complete rework from scratch in the new place, both in term of home automation and which services I'll bring back. Of course, it will depend on the quality of my new ISP (I'm fed up with my current one - sorry for any users suffering from this when browsing my website or capsule).
The main "big thing" I installed is GoToSocial[9], a small fediverse backend. I already wrote a first blog post[10] about it and the 2nd should arrive soon. The Tldr; is that I'm quite happy about it, and while it still misses a few key things that makes me keep my @bacardi55@framapiaf.org account as my primary for now, I'm already mainly using my @bacardi55@social.bacardi55.io account as my main one to interact with others. Feel free to follow both :).
This year, I purchased 2 expensive products
Was an expensive year, specially because the new Framework laptop was not at all planed and didn't expect to change laptop before end of next year or 2024, but not everything goes as expected :).
