@CryThunderdarealone 5 years ago dsfadsfgafgf How tf did I come up with this?
Is what I ask myself a lot 😂

297

@ChrisFranklyn 5 years ago Worse, I've got 100s of scraps of paper with tabbed
out riffs which are meaningless out of context :)

458

@kasnitch 5 years ago I went one step more efficient . never bothered with
the folder  :-)

161

@ryoryp4408 5 years ago Fr, i have like 9000 songs recorded on my phone i dont
remember writing

156

@snakeTDgameLNERfan 5 years ago me, I've like 50+ riffs from an old band I have
no idea how to play haha

36

@werehold 5 years ago I still use my riff library that I’ve had since 97. It’s
spilled over onto my iPad.

43

@EerieBetrayal 5 years ago my folder is my brain lol, lost a few pages over the
years...

100

@turbine3780 5 years ago Like 20 songs

1

@dsfadsfgafgf 5 years ago (edited) lol. That would make quite an entertaining
Channel. With viewer subscriptions it could last a thousand years. The Riff
Grave Yard Channel I'd subscribe to that.

@CarbonTom666 5 years ago Too many to count. I started recording videos of me
playing them on my phone so I at least have an idea.

59

@scottjames8431 5 years ago Guilty AF.

17

@imnrax 5 years ago WHo needs a folder when u have a huge desktop screen!

28

@JasonScruffyPatton 5 years ago Guilty!! Literally over 10yrs worth!

5

@d1l4te43 5 years ago I record and write down tabs of everything I come up
with. I have a folder of over 400 riffs full of ideas I've yet to use. If
only I had a band to use them with.

19

@drift180x 5 years ago dsfadsfgafgf what I do is record a quick video with my
phone of my fretboard while I play a riff or lead slowly. So even if I forget,
I can refer to the video. Then move that video into a n ideas folder on my PC.

6

@Honster6 5 years ago ;D a lot of them! :D

@cjones87 5 years ago I have about 14 reaper projects full of random riffs and
half finished projects that i can't remember how to play or what tuning they
were in

11

@Honster6 5 years ago I have like 50+ projects like this ;P

1

@ksaavedra_Immortalbelovedmusic 5 years ago Same! Also when i first write
riffs i play them like shit and when i go back and listen i can't even figure
what the hell i was thinking when i wrote that shit.

5

@HeroSword_P 5 years ago I do it with my phone so I can retrieve those riffs
later to spin into full songs.

3

@pointymason 5 years ago Hours and fucking hours of riffs that I have no idea
what happened xD

2

@ShredderGrg 5 years ago I have my phone full of voice recordings with me
"singing" riffs while banging the desk at my work 😂 When I'm out of ideas, I
listen to those.

6

@Valp85 5 years ago This is totally me. I consider myself lucky if I scribbled
down the BPM somewhere on the paper

@davelanciani-dimaensionx 5 years ago Not to mention using alternate tunings
that you never remember ...

7

@yurasuka8624 5 years ago (edited) @ D1L4TE  i feel your pain

@hedningerofficial2498 5 years ago haha. no folder. just an endless sea of
saved studio one files worth about 4 2TB HDD's worth... Can I remember how to
play half of that stuff, nope. But that's how I do it too... Also have about 50
unfinished songs just sitting there waiting for inspiration.

1

@bobmills870 5 years ago Better yet, save the files with the bpm on each so you
can search through them faster - blam!

1

@aamado1013 5 years ago I'm guilty of having some SoundCloud improvisations
that I can kinda sorta try playing along with and figuring out that way. I
think I'll go back to that. Been looking into like a zoom R8 or something
similar

@TheShininggg 5 years ago the first 50 actually have names of their own, then
it magically started naming riff xx1, xx2 and so on...

2

@dillardfilth8933 5 years ago I keep a flip phone charged, only because the
voice recorder is full of riffs i can't remember how to play

@kilianseifertleitch8803 5 years ago I mean I tab my riffs into guitar pro

2

@Freddy-kr2sz 5 years ago CryThunder let me have those tabs 😂

@rusty899 5 years ago Funny as haha can relate 100!

@natanhannah 5 years ago haha! relate. 🤣 ... worse, its my own version of
TAB that i dont recall ever inventing, let alone understand it. RIP money
riffs

@zwidawurzn9423 5 years ago Thats why i decided to buy a video camera and film
myself to see what i played^^

1

@Snikabarz 5 years ago yea too many

@gabrylhanson 5 years ago dsfadsfgafgf my life as a musician in a huge ass
nutshell

1

@gabrylhanson 5 years ago Adrian Lopez Rojas it's like Michael Scott from The
Office: "He put all my icons in one folder, who does that when you can just
click on the icon on the screen?" Lol

@aleatoriac7356 5 years ago I don't seem to have any problem with most of the
riffs I write, it's the damn solos I forget

@esper6126 5 years ago yup

@anxiousmindmusic 5 years ago If you are putting that much time and competence
into it without even having a band or getting paid you probably need to go do
it

@Deplorable_Nerfherder 5 years ago trying to figure those out is my inspiration
for new stuff lol

@Grishnoob 5 years ago Thats why I always tab out all of my music using Tabit.
I have all of my spare shit and completed shit tabbed out so I never have to
worrry about this. It also works great when writing solos or counterr point
harmonies or anything really.

1

@panicabyss9735 5 years ago I tried tabbing out old riffs, but was lazy and
just memorized the ones worth remembering, but lost some potential gems that
way

@Grishnoob 5 years ago Jeremy salvato I just tab as I go

@guky667 5 years ago yup

@evrimleventler9269 5 years ago me, and theyre all the same title as your
username lol

2

@MrMOGHammer 5 years ago Kirk Hammet`s lost iPhone has that lol

1

@MrMOGHammer 5 years ago I used to do that.

@MrMOGHammer 5 years ago efficiency is not key here

@MrMOGHammer 5 years ago do not lose that phone.... like someone very famous I
know.

@MrMOGHammer 5 years ago Used to be my folder, than stopped for 18 years (all
guitars were stolen in 2000, just bought one a few weeks ago. Geez it comes
back fast)

@MrMOGHammer 5 years ago That`s my new thing too. GP7 here.

@MrMOGHammer 5 years ago you should name your folders with the tuning they are
in.

@cameronball3998 5 years ago I always tab them out, then record them in voice
memos on my phone, and have the titles correlate between the tab and voice
memo. I never lose a riff, or how to play it again. OCD isn't always great, but
sometimes it's nice.

1

@ReallyMichaelRicc 5 years ago I record the audio, and regret it when I check
back on it days/weeks/months/year(s) later.

@adrianlee3497 5 years ago I have a load of tracks on my computer and a
SoundCloud "scratch pad" account. I will have to refer to them to remember how
they went solo and all.

@MarktheAirsoftPrimate 5 years ago Dude I can barely remember solos I just
wrote

1

@juanyepso1801 5 years ago Sometimes I forget it as soon as I play it...

1

@MrMetalhead6 5 years ago Got about 6 to 7 notebooks full of tabbed out riffs.
Never can apply them into songs though lol.

@cheetorb 5 years ago I said fuck it and started recording everything on video

1

@adamnilsson566 5 years ago I write pretty much all of my riffs in Guitarpro
instantly so I can remember them, and also add drums, bass, harmonies, leads
etc. Not the fastest way to write, but at least I never have to worry about
forgetting them :)

@Beyond-Antares 5 years ago I have 10 years worth of random riffs that I can't
play anymore. I find that alot of it sounds like what I'm listening at the
moment. When I started everything sounded like Symphony X, Pagan mind and
Opeth.

@deanplayer69metalplayer89 5 years ago Right here man! I've come up with so
many badass riffs but I'm kicking myself in the ass cause have the time I
either can't remember them or never record them! Lol!

@ryanm3714 5 years ago That’s what is so great about a smartphone. Use video to
record yourself playing ideas and store them away. Boom - takes the guessing
game out of it!

@ofadetergentsud 5 years ago I only forget my leads because I only play the
rhythms when I'm writing. Then I have to go back later and figure out all my
leads again. At least its much easier than remembering chords.

@williamgossage8868 5 years ago Thats a great idea

@beamerstrumpet 5 years ago I have stuff on sound cloud I cant remember how to
play!

@bradhargis2261 5 years ago Chris Franklyn same here. At the time I'll think if
I write it down I'll remember it and then I don't record so months down the
road in a writing session I'll see this riff written out and I'll try to play
it and I'm like WTF is this?

@DR0NE_BEE 5 years ago "Tell me about it" lol Know the feeling.

@TheBlackKnight1o1 5 years ago I have a spiral bound notebook full of not just
riffs but chord progressions and licks and bridges and bass parts, and I'm like
"Wtf kinda Adderall wad I on"

@TheSquareOnes 5 years ago I have a really bad habit of trying out a weird
tuning, recording a fraction of a song, walking away for a year and then never
being able to remember what the tuning was to even begin to try to pick out the
notes again. Does a folder of that count?

1

@robertking7584 5 years ago No-one who actually writes music for public
consumption. This guy a YouTube personality, knows as much as you or I and
nothing more.

@sgtzero1337 5 years ago This is why I also have guitar pro lol :P

@darrellmiddleton6615 5 years ago I just started playing again after 3 years
off so I've forgotten most

@jo3yepicness 5 years ago I take videos on my phone off stuff I come up with
and go back to it if I need to. Then I can hear it and see me play it to get an
idea of what I was doing at the time.

@blakekillganon846 5 years ago I use a program called TuxGuitar to compose when
I'm bored but not around the house...I've never learned any of the songs I've
composed lol.

@janthehuman4566 5 years ago I got 839495 songs that i dont remember how to
play hahah

@Twobarpsi 5 years ago dsfadsfgafgf if you knew music theory, names of notes,
positions on the guitar, and correct music theory, you wouldn't have a problem.
Only people who think they can play guitar, in the end are just musical hacks,
will have problems learning their own riffs LOL

3

@jonthehermit8082 5 years ago Cool it's not just me, thank god for garage band
I have like 100 unfinished songs and regularly purge the lamest

@v.v.336 5 years ago i do)

@mike0957 5 years ago I haven't related to something more in my life

@wurms64 5 years ago The best is recording something that you think is shit.
Then finding it and being like “I remember this shit riff.” Then spending the
next two days crying because you realise it’s actually a dope as fuck riff, and
wondering why you ever thought it was a shit riff.

@stefanlukacs2728 5 years ago thats why I use guitar pro :D

@marwansalem5123 5 years ago So fucking true lol

@eddiejohansson1949 5 years ago Chris Franklyn I had the same problem, why is
why i record obssesively

@anadhdprepper6490 5 years ago I have a ton of videos and sound recordings,
tons

@peepinyowindow4517 5 years ago I save mine on my phone with video clips so i
can see the fretboard so if i forget how to play it i have the video

@jaboibrodie1687 5 years ago e my d00d

@evildead1949 5 years ago this week i made two full tracks on reaper - drums
and everything....can i remember how to play any of them? nope....can i
remember how i had my amp set for the sound? Nope...... full f**King songs
man....i usually write down everything, tab, amp settings, the lot - not this
time.

@ZethKeeper 5 years ago That's why I write down my riffs in Guitar Pro.

@benjamingreer6785 5 years ago The only way I can prevent this, is for me to
write the name of the song, and the tuning. Once I hear the riff play out, and
have the tuning, I’m pretty much set to remember everything about the song.

1

@keesnolting4357 5 years ago I forgot a lot

@sovereigngagepfister5917 4 years ago Dude i have whole songs i cant remeber
how to play lol

@michaelmurray5105 4 years ago I'm not even sure how many riff folders I have,
I have riffs and half songs out the wazoo. I really need to get my /*&#
together. Hopefully my new band will help with that :D

@anthonycherveny7444 4 years ago Facts

@Sfailey 4 years ago Chris Franklyn Do you one better. I'll jot them down as
shapes and then foot notes on picking. Basically, complete gibberish.

@skatetodeath666 4 years ago Yup sucks to have a shit memory

@CREPERUM 4 years ago We wrote and released our first ep and i forgot how to
play any of the songs..

@dennisr.6023 4 years ago Μeeee

@BerkayVatansever 4 years ago I try to write tabs for my riffs but I'm too lazy
for most of the time

1

@tugboat202 4 years ago y notes files are full of riffs I don't remember how to
play. I record them in the spur of the moment, then blank. No idea how I played
what I just played

@ezraholmes01 4 years ago Plenty... luckily, I remember E minor. 🤣

@doomster2914 4 years ago Confession: I forget the riff as soon as I'm coming
up with it...

@ajvallery5569 4 years ago werehold bet there’s some amazing content from 97
wow lol

1

@JunkCCCP 4 years ago Every time I play with a band or just sit around noodling
I come up with multiple cool sounding riffs and then the next day I can't
remember shit.

@HellboysGreaserGarag 4 years ago Ummmmm no

@BDChupacabra 4 years ago I have a whole fuckin ep I recorded myself 9 years
ago and only showed 2 ppl lmao. I don't remember how to play ANY of those songs
at all anymore.

@RecKLesSRLTV 4 years ago I've had the same folder for over 5 years. In the
past year I've been revisiting my old ideas and writing alot of random pieces
to go with them. It's crazy when you go back and don't remember anything like
the tuning or even writing them. But it's great to have as a base point

@hooliganstreet 4 years ago E

@elliottreagan4138 4 years ago Yep.

@search895 4 years ago (edited) I got this 500 pages notebook full of tabs
before i started my who-knows-how-many-gigabytes song folder/s years ago. I
need new hard drives

1

@sensiblynumb 4 years ago D1L4TE you started that band mate?

@d1l4te43 4 years ago Michael P Nope. Thinking I'm just gonna have to go solo

1

@Bflatest 4 years ago If I played it I can always re learn it

1

@d1l4te43 4 years ago Michael P I know what I want out of my music and how to
do it. I can rely on myself for most of it and I kind of like it that way.
I've been in a couple bands that didn't have the drive I did so going solo
feels somewhat liberating. It'd be cool if I found some other musicians who
have somewhat the same kind of vision as me, but it's hard to come by where I'm
at.

2

@kerbalscuffedprogram4705 4 years ago Lmfao, I have so much random riffs I
forget to make tabs

@SweGunner71 4 years ago I wish I could play a riff at all.... :/

@poragburagohain87 4 years ago e

@MrDmadness 4 years ago yup, I have a full album I recorded one night long ago
on a mushroom trip... then forgot about it for years and then found it the
other day... is pretty good, gonna have to figure out what the hell i played.

@THEGRAPH7 4 years ago ost definitely

@Davivd2 4 years ago I've got a bunch of riffs that sounded cool when I played
them, but would never fit into any type of song structure. That's always been
my biggest problem with writing riffs.

@TriggaP123 4 years ago record and tab out

@HunterThomasonGames 4 years ago Just keep a video recording of you playing it
and list what tuning you used

@tentyone2149 4 years ago If I could I would

@roughindividual147 4 years ago This is the most real comment ever

@MeAndSomeRandoms 4 years ago Pro tip (from an amateur): record audio and video
and when you are at it invest in a bigger cloud storage :D

@judefrey1009 4 years ago Lol

@Breaker197 3 years ago Chris Franklyn same

@Breaker197 3 years ago raises hand

@LazarusvandeHel 3 years ago Michael P i had the same Problem. But yeah i
guess if you re living in a real really small village you should be lucky
having good Internet... and yeah i have such a harddrive too... in 90% of all
Times i come up with something and record the audio i will have no clue what i
played about an hour later

@facepeeler 3 years ago Lol yea I’ve written stuff that I have to remember even
what tuning I was in

@jackrose6996 3 years ago I've lost more notebooks full of riffs, lyrics, and
guitar sketches than I'd know what to do with if I still had them.

Last year I found one in a box of college textbooks and I honestly can't
remember writing any of it, but it's definitely in my hand and tab style. Lol

@olafvanrijnsbergen1177 3 years ago Don't attack me like that!

@alexsurh1472 3 years ago LMFAO i was thinking the same thing

@way2sh0rt07grad 3 years ago Worse than that, going back to the riffs and not
remembering what you wanted to do with the riff. Countless times I’ll write a
riff and know exactly how the song will go. “ oh I’ll finish this later” Then
you never go back until months if not years later lol

@kevinxsavagegm 3 years ago Lmao i have so many i cant even

@gfhfhrthsefsehtjgngd 3 years ago Love your user name

@kdoody5712 3 years ago 100% my dude.

@Rooftop_Floppa 3 years ago It’s worse when you add cocaine to the mix.

@justinwingo2598 3 years ago I have tab books worth a thousand pages of riffs I
dont remember how I played

@mikethebloodthirsty 3 years ago I have 20 years worth of songs and riffs I
have no remembrance of writing or recording... But that could be because of all
the alcohol I drank.

@mikethebloodthirsty 3 years ago ryoryp same here, I have old tapes, old hard
drives... All gathering dust, I was quite good at songwriting too... Got real
frustrated, had to stop just for my own mental health, but still noodle about
on guitar.

@SpiralDream 3 years ago ost of which are either Megadeth/Metallica ripoffs or
atonal sounding shit

@crzxm 3 years ago I heard a riff I wrote called Mad and Twitching. I said to
myself, "WTF were you mad at and how do you play it again?!"

@MrDeepzek 3 years ago That's why I record videos but then I lose them hahaha

@maxx-ng4vb 3 years ago dsfadsfgafgf god I felt that

@freakalishess 3 years ago Just record a video of yourself playing it. Easy.

@mksounds6326 3 years ago I have entire songs on my Youtube channel I don't
remember how to play. K

@LitesLAB 3 years ago I used to until I stared to video them.

@mrredskyy5929 3 years ago HAHAHAHAHAHA yep bro

@RandomBros88 3 years ago Here lol

@shredbacca 3 years ago me lol

@Legolion17 3 years ago I have a Google doc full of riffs that I've written on
the piano.

@enlightenedwarrior7119 3 years ago Owning up bro

@stavran 3 years ago Story of my life bro

@jdaniels8669 3 years ago Just recently opened up a folder of really old
recordings and SHIT MAN there is some decent riffage among them but I can't
remember how they're played. I feel this on a deeply spiritual level

@tbagination7863 3 years ago e :(

@jaretmaillet9542 3 years ago This happens more often than not

@thebloomintumors 3 years ago e... 🤣 Got a YouTube channel full of riffs I
can't remember.

@mannmusicplayerb1914 3 years ago A lot of ideas going anywhere :(

1

@themetalist1893 3 years ago Definitely me

@james6234 3 years ago Yep. A bunch of audio files in a folder for a song, or
just a guitar part that fits well in a song

@metallimatt10 3 years ago Dude I used to record them on my phone and go back
like months later like "what the fuck?" Now I try and make a note on tuning,
what guitar I used and a basic notes or frets I used. At one point I made a
video of me playing them but my phone memory was getting full

@tonnroc 3 years ago Try Writing them down

@nathanbarth7909 3 years ago I find it better to video record the riffs and tab
it in the video so that it is never lost

@cdg156 3 years ago And, lost that folder

@fromdepthswerise3024 3 years ago I'll raise my hand.

@87BruceH 3 years ago I have a an app called music memo, and I would record
loads of riffs I wrote but I lost my phone last year so I no longer can access
them... 😭😢

@pepechucksito 3 years ago I write my music in guitar Pro

@richardspillers6282 3 years ago Who doesn't?

@manosassassin 3 years ago Just record yourself explaining how to play each
riff, easy.

1

@TheDistortionPrinciple 3 years ago Yep lol

@grave3hunna 3 years ago Wayy too many

@user-ms2rx5zr6h 3 years ago You been in my room bruh???

@notfbi673 3 years ago Dude yes and I’ll try and right it down and it never
sounds the same. My biggest savior has always been taking a small video

@JesusLopez-ij6zj 3 years ago eeeee

@Granadan 3 years ago Thousands 😭

@nathanielbaker6884 3 years ago Yea

@nathanparker2981 3 years ago Shit

@bryanmccorkle667 3 years ago I definitely do. I have songs that I have trouble
remembering parts at times if I've been working on something different or
whatever. Especially with no live shows.

@jsee2385 3 years ago Hand held digital recorder.....

@johnsmith-de2py 3 years ago I have a google doc were I right down tabs so I
don't forget but like holy shit I do that alot

@aaronbellak3213 3 years ago Lmaooo yes I feel called out

@michaelrayle3467 3 years ago Definitely me;) I got 4 pages of paper I think
there's 87 song riffs lol I probably know 50 maybe 60 who the heck knows lol:)

@stxrm4370 3 years ago 🤣💀

@alexsosa266 3 years ago I can't even remember how to play other people's songs
once I've learned them..

@thejample5188 3 years ago Oh, my folder full of riffs! Yeah . . .

1

@pietroluisetto4819 3 years ago I have a ton of videos of myself playing random
riffs and still can't play them right

@levidebi1143 3 years ago Home schooling some theory and recording your efforts
is a sure-fire way to achieve that outcome.

1

@greglane334 3 years ago Yup. Never mind remembering the tuning

@ryanx7170 3 years ago Still have boxes of tapes we recorded between 97-2003
but what's funny is they were mostly my mums tapes with my riffs and covers
taped over so you'd get a few seconds of Cindy lauper between obituary riffs
was very comical but what can you do when your 15 and can't afford a pack of
tdk

1

@tylercady3985 3 years ago ryoryp for real my phone said it was out of storage
so I went into my camera roll and there was 300 videos of 10 second riffs I
have no memory of writing or recording

@fabianvandalen6717 3 years ago Record yourself playing it, worked for me a
lot!

@jace3143 2 years ago Shhhhhhhhh🤫🤫🤫

@poundpunch 2 years ago Bingo. My yellow folder from 20 years back.

@SteveRicardo777 2 years ago I have a cup of coffee, make some eggs, yell at
my neighbor, watch some porn, take a big Poop!! And..... boom, I have a
riff.

@DocsDose 2 years ago 🙋🏻‍♂️

@garywinthorpe1552 2 years ago It's called my brain

@UltimateIllusion-qj3gk 2 years ago e

@traktorfaktor 2 years ago y friend remembers my riffs

@warheartbm 2 years ago I have 2 2tb external drives that are full of
songs/ideas. It’s a heavy addiction.

1

@HeadbangersLocal 2 years ago <——this guy 😂

1

@kylek5538 2 years ago Guilty

@anotherbigfootwithinternet2147 2 years ago I didn't expect to be personally
attacked but yes I do. Probably filled with a thousand riffs

@jaewhite2462 2 years ago Probably everyone here.

@jaewhite2462 2 years ago I watched Videos from my old band, after 8 years of
not playing, and wonder how the fuck did I play that?

@OriginalKingRichTv 2 years ago ryoryp same

@scottdickson9224 2 years ago Checking in.

@5Rock4ever 2 years ago Too many...

@paul6point7 2 years ago I’ve got a ton of random notes and voice memos on my
phone of stuff I’ve meant to use

@HaruSKZ 2 years ago Guilty, but all the more excuse to use my ears to try to
figure it out. I mean, I know what I’m capable so even if I can’t remember
exactly how to play my riff, I’m sure I can get close.

@thrashmetaljay666 2 years ago I’ve written more riffs than full songs. I
usually record when I write riffs/songs, but once it’s recorded/arranged, I
have a tendency to immediately forget how to play them.

@sixstringmadness6426 2 years ago e me me me

@sixstringmadness6426 2 years ago I just play around and eventually find
something I'm bobbing my head to lol

@freeman7079 2 years ago If that folder is my brain and by “can’t remember” you
mean “have never played”

@scarletripper9342 2 years ago I video myself so I can relearn it

@claytong2018 2 years ago You ever make a riff, pull out ur phone to record it,
but forget it by the time u gotta record?

@charliehughes2126 2 years ago Yep🤣🤣

@Chisuz 2 years ago also, thousands of small loops that COULD be used in some
song...

@Aveofficialtone 2 years ago I feel attacked

@Chugchugg24 2 years ago I'll play them over an over the a week later camt
remember shit

@HEATHENYT 2 years ago You didn't have to call me out like that.

@laurenttherrienjr1080 2 years ago i have no computer lol so filming on my
