H Friends, i repeatedly see the URL gemini://h2903872.stratoserver.net/favicon.txt in my server's log. Neither LaGrange nor the Kristal-Browser are trying to access a /favicon.txt/ file. Anyone has an idea where this is coming from, weather this is something useful and what should i put into that file? Thank you very much in advance for your help! Best regards from Charleston (WV), Frank/2 -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My capsule orbits at gemini://h2903872.stratoserver.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------
A while ago amfora used to look for favicon.txt, but it was removed: https://github.com/makeworld-the-better-one/amfora/issues/199 Regards, Leif

Anyone has an idea where this is coming from, weather this is something useful and what should i put into that file? Some browsers used to look for a favicon.txt that defined an emoji favicon. Most later removed this feature after a lack of adoption and some pushback from those who did not want this to be part of Gemini. -- /Seirdy

The specification can be found here: gemini://mozz.us/files/rfc_gemini_favicon.gmi As much as i know my client is the only one that search for favicon, because i doubt it has a big userbase (or even an userbase :-)) i guess there must be some other ones (old version of amfora, maybe?). Anyway, if you want, just put an emoji in that URI, you'll make some people smile! :) Bye! C.
