After enjoying a few years of feeling like I knew who I was - which is atypical for my life at large - I've been feeling sort of lost again, lately. I feel like I don't really have a place. Everyone has reasons to hate me if they dig deep enough - my opinions and viewpoints are just so varied and not consistent with any mainstream ideology. It's kind of tiring.

@softwarepagan it's better to be hated for what you are than beloved for that what you are not... · 3 months ago
@chirale Thank you! · 3 months ago
@bavarianbarbarian I figured you would! 😂 · 3 months ago
@flux I really like that piece! It expresses something I have thus far been unable to articulate. I struggle with crippling nostalgia as well, however; I think it has more to do with my environment than my self. I believe I've held on to my true self, luckily. · 3 months ago
@danrl I meant "misalagned" 😅 · 3 months ago
@danrl I appreciate the reference to the much-unfairly-aligned Nietzsche! I do have goals and purpose, so I don't think that's it - I do, however, agree with your assesment of serious thinkers. Most people, as much as I love them, do not do much serious thinking. It is frustrating sometimes, as I long to connect with other people, but it is an unfortunate truth. · 3 months ago

you may be burdened by the fact that you are a serious thinker. quoting podcaster chris williamson: “if i know one of your views, and from it, i can accurately predict everything else that you believe, then you’re not a serious thinker.”
another take is, that you haven’t found purpose yet. as nietzsche pointed out, after killing god, we have to find new purpose and models to derive our values from. many atheists find solace in humanism. · 3 months ago
Few people can watch straight in the face their own inconstistencies. Be proud of it! · 3 months ago
I've felt like this my whole life. Like I was born incomplete, with pieces missing. Read a blog post this morning that seemed to echo the sentiment:
