Looking into getting a cheap 35mm SLR and developing the B&W myself. I'm sick of the perfect cleanliness of digital photography. Need to breathe life into them with physical manipulation of the film.

@jose i saw some coffee development. fun idea. apparently it works with many acidic substances- i wonder if red wine would do? it would create an interesting effect, i'm sure. the light sensor doesn't work and they rarely do.

shame with the automatic reeling is that double exposures are really tricky, but can be done with rewinding carefully. · 7 months ago

@five_over_four, sounds like a nice camera. If I could only have one film camera, it would be a camera just like that. It's simple, and practically mechanical. There are ways to get around using a mercury battery, but using sunny 16 works too. Something I want to try to experiment with is using caffenol for developing my own film. I did it once before, with some success. I may pull out my own camera and try experimenting with that again. I hope you enjoy working with film. · 7 months ago

@jose pulled the trigger on a bell & howell FD35 with the bundled 50mm f/1.8, and a roll of b&w. yeah, i want to keep it economical and not as gear-focused. hell, i *like* imperfection, so one camera is perfectly enough. · 7 months ago

Careful there. Try sticking to one camera, else you'll end up owning more cameras than what you can practically use. The same goes for the lenses and other accesories. Spend more money on film, and less on gear. · 7 months ago
