I could describe my day in detail, but the only thing truly worth knowing is that I spent five hours (with some interruptions) playing straight through the entirety of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile for the PS1 in a single go. Partially this was because I've been meaning to finish it for years, but mostly I wanted to see if I could. The answer is that yes, I can, but I really shouldn't have. It's an incredible game, a true gem of the PS1 era, but it really wears on you after the first three and a half hours of surprisingly demanding platforming.

@basil_mori Ahhh ok I see. That seems tomba-esque actually. I'll have to give that a looksee sometime, I never actually dived into Klonoa just seen stuff about it in the past. · 2 years ago

It's actually not much like Sonic Adventure at all. Klonoa in general is a series of side-scrolling platformer titles. The console games (Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil) are 2.5d platformers, with your movement at any given time being restricted to left right and jumping but taking you through an often curved 3D level. Many of the diverging paths take you into what are otherwise foreground/background elements, and the 3D-ness of the levels is a major part of how they're designed.

Apart from the level design it's a very straightforward platformer, albeit with the gimmick of grabbing enemies and reusing them for attacks or vertical height. · 2 years ago
