Pseudo-disclaimer: This about covid19 and what's doing to us. You might want to read something else.
Anyway, the day before I wrote this I watched a YT video from a survivalist. Yes, I watch that kind of stuff. I have an interest in the outdoors, I love camping, hiking, cooking outside, the whole thing. So the algorythm ends up recommending me survivalist stuff. Now, some take it more like a hobby and some are always thinking that "the end" is next Sunday. Heck, I have even written a sort of "end of the world" book, and my favorite rpg was Twilight 2000. And, on top of that, those people often have good instruction and tips on the outdoors. And they can be nice people too...
And then, this
"They hate us"
So who are "they"? I am not sure, but by "us" the youtuber meant, "those who have rejected or will reject being vaccinated". Now, the thing is I have my full double dose and I intend to take a refresher shot if and when my national government says so. And, no, I do not trust the guys on top, not at all. But I trust the science and the scientific community.
Just for a full disclosure.
Against this perceived, and in some extent real hate, "they" recieve, he proposed starting communities of "like-minded people". This is a mistake.
Now, I am not going to waste much words to say I do not hate those who have not taken a shot. I'll be brief: I don't hate them.I think hate is a terrible passion which does not belong to the wise. And seclusion cannot be the answer, not even if you are an introvert like me.
Instead, I believe in something many would believe radical, or new-age... -can you remember the new age? :) - the fellowship of all people. Zenon, Epictetus, Kant, Rousseau, even John Lenon, believed in that kind of thing too. Aristotle strongly adviced against rage, and such emotions that are all the rage on the Big Bad Web. Martin Buber and Levinas would have a capsule, provided they had a techie friend or two...
This youtuber who placed that video does look to me as a kind, warm, thoughtful person. This youtuber sounded to me as genuilely sad, exhausted about the whole thing. And, I'm convinced the experiences he have had with people who have taken a vaccine have not always been great. (If you are a British guy, I'm meaning that last sentence literally). Of course, having a YT channel exposes you to that kind of flak.
This (Gemini) is a nice place to be. It might be because this protocol has attracted people who love to think, who can respect others, even if they are a little odd. Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm little odd too.
I thought about posting a comment on that video on the lines that I'm posting here. But I decided not to, for opposing comments, no matter how respectful or constructive, end up doing more bad than good. That let me thinking, or bettter, remembering that, lately the world behaves increasingly as fans, sometimes as hoolligans.
Now, we as humans have always tend to think that those who disagree with us are either stupid, mad, evil, ignorant or some combination of such, or for whatever reason are not part of our group: nation, "race" -whatever that stupid notion is-, favorite music, football team or such. That is only natural (natural doesn't mean "good" in this context, sorry if I'm stating the obvius). But, we as humans, are doing that much more intensly in the last few years, even before covid.
I don't know, I genuilely don't know if the culprit is the Big Bad Web, but that's something we need to address. Perhaps with more thinking and more meditation, perhaps with more listening and less trying to out-smart or humilliate people.
And above to believe in humanity, at least as a community to become, some day in some glorious future, or something of the sort.
Let's do it.
(No, no link to the video, what for? I'm sure you can find it, if you so wish, but it's just an example, anyway).
Peace, and thank you for reading.
