Today I got mad at a stupid PEBCAK, which honestly wasn't so trivial...

What made me REALLY angry were the useless amount of fake as well useless solutions, tips and workarounds... Which really infest the Linux world!

Eventually with @op we were able to troubleshoot the issue and find a real and working solution... however the hours lost on internet reading linux bullshit are hexausting, and I am really pissed off!

Yikes, really? I also did the BSD thing years ago, and everything I have at work is either ancient or a Mac (frequently both), so I hadn’t noticed. Ridiculous. · 2 years ago

@steve_dracula they already had, they made systemd-timer or systemd-cron. Simply I moved on the BSD side and when I need Linux I use Devuan. 😉 · 2 years ago

@digbat I don't see differences between old and new workarounds, when those are all broken and fake...

However often older solutions work better cause before there were more prepared people than today. Also Devuan still uses old Linux commands.

The point is people issue fake articles to get more vision, post silly solutions to look cool or get points, but actually the majority don't test such fixing with the side effect to create a huge mess across the internet... 🤬 · 2 years ago

Don’t worry, next they’ll deprecate cron. · 2 years ago

i routinely search on last year, month, or week (if unexpected unusual behaviour) - progress is fast - internet full of outdated solutions and many offering solutions that stopped working or depreciated years ago lol · 2 years ago
