greetings from Amfora :) was using Lagrange recently, but I like doing stuff from the terminal, even if Amfora's in maintenance mode

i like amfora because i like the terminal. I've not heard of telescope though, so... maybe I'll check it out! Β· 2 months ago

@freezr @astroseneca Thanks for reminding me of Telescope! I know that it exists, but I always forget to check it out β€” and it's from the developer of gmid that I use, no less! πŸ˜†

Maybe it's a good idea to ask for it to be added here: gemini://geminiprotocol.net/software/

And the shorter web version of this page too: https://geminiprotocol.net/clients.html

A lot of people still start exploring Gemini from these pages. Β· 2 months ago

I can't even imagine what could motivate a terminal user to return to Amphora after using Telescope?. Β· 2 months ago

I like amfora as well. Lately, I have been enjoying offpunk's offline mode. Β· 2 months ago

Checkout Telescope closely... Besides being an active project has recently added support for:

certificates

External editor to write long messages

Worth to mention is, by default, privacy oriented and it supports the major alternative TCP protocols...

Compilation is pretty easy... Β· 2 months ago

@ivanodin Yep, things on Gemini don't change often, so Amfora just keeps working. Sadly, it would never get full-text search for currently open page, and mouse support is partial at best (you can enable it trivially by editing one line in the source to at least enable scrolling and selecting links) β€”Β unless someone takes over and implements it.

My only major gripe about it is that it doesn't display character count when submitting a query and the dialog for entering text is too narrow β€” you can't even copy the text you entered with normal terminal means β€” just in case. This makes writing replies on Station not as comfy as it is in Lagrange. Β· 2 months ago

I'm an Amfora user myself. Still use Lagrange when I go through Gopher/Spartan/Gemini stuff. Amofra is pretty much complete tbf. Β· 2 months ago
