The regular DM for my regular Saturday D&D game wasn't avalible last night, so I ran another session in Necrotic Gnome's The Hole in the Oak. It looked like only two players would be avalable. With that few players I usually have them play a couple of characters each, so the group is large enough. Why multiple characters per player rather than lots of hirelings? So the players each have a little more to do, and so I don't. 😀
As this is an intermittent game, we spent a while at the beginning figuring out how Fantasy Grounds works for OSE again, and a bit on how OSE works, since the players' regular game is D&D 5E. Nobody seemed to mind, so it was pretty relaxed, and we took our time.
Once we finally got to the dungeon it turned out to be an exploring and learning session, with some interaction with dungeon features. (One character ended with a mutated hairy claw for a hand.) There were no combats, because the PCs wisely ran from something that could have been a Total Party Kill, and they talked to one of the residents and found out some more about the dungeon. But it was not a lucrative trip: the only loot they found was 25 gp, so each character got about 6 gp.
Still, everybody seemed to have fun, and they did get a lot done.
Another player (who had said they probably wouldn't be available), showed up just in time for the after game conversation, so that was pleasant.
All in all an enjoyable evening!
