Wow what an excellent dream. Do you feel the well had sinister implications, or that it was just a mysterious secret? Every horror story adds a twist towards the end that the beneficial thing has a terrible cost, but maybe the well is just being kept a secret to prevent it being taken away.
I got the feeling that the people keeping it a secret were doing so with the intent of preventing others from using it. It didn't seem to have any obvious negative effects. But I did get the impression they were "given" that magic. Likely by sacrificing something. So maybe it was only safe for them...
