Introductions

gemlog.blue! Bringing gemini to the web since June of 2020!

I found out about gemlog.blue this morning while trawling around gemspace, and found this in my astral net:

Gemlog.blue
Have you checked out gemlog.blue yet? It offers free gemlog hosting which is managed through an ultralight web interface instead of ssh/sftp/rsync/git/etc. No javascript, no cookies, no third-party requests. Super cool.

Thought it was neat, shared the link around a little bit, and thought if I was promoting it, I might as well jump in and participate a little bit.

My name is dozens. I come via the tilderverse, specifically tilde.town.

My main gemini capsule and gemlog is on acdw's breadpunk.club [2]

Not sure what I'll do with this space yet. Its main feature seems to be its web access portal, which means it is ideal for accessing on the go or from strange computers. This suggests it would be great for On The Road updates. Alas, my timing is off. I don't leave the house much these days.

It may also be ideal for off the cuff, unedited posts from the browser. Maybe a sort of microblog (microgem? shard??) a la shufei's weiphlog [3] (which I now notice insistes that it is a "phlog" despite being on gemini) and solderpunk's aforementioned pikkulog.

Random aside: editing large blocks of text in a plain large textarea field is something I usually avoid doing. Rather, when I am presented with having to do it, I usually leave the browser and go write in vim, and then copy/paste it back in.

This time though, right here and right now, I decided to commit myself to actually composing in the browser. It's the spirit of the exercise.

But I cheated! I turned back on my firenvim plugin[4]! So, yes, I'm in the browser. But I also have my ACTUAL nvim running in this textarea, complete with all initrc and all my plugins.

I pulled a sneaky on ya ;)
