Every now and then they seem to have outages. I often got "YouTube is Rate Limiting Invidious" or similar messages. But there seems to be a cat-and-mouse game.

Youtube has been playing with the api again
i guess we need to try to depend less on youtube, and use peertube more, watch on peertube and upload to peertube.
it's like with encyclopedia britannica vs wikipedia.
or like viber vs xmpp.
the more you use xmpp, tell people about it and insist that you will only communicate via xmpp, the more you contribute to the open decentralized alternative.
reddit also was tightening the screws on our freedom of using it via third party apps. they need us to use their apps.
so better to not use them at all.
i think it is possible. i think yes, we won't be able to replace the web, but i have limited time. i read things on gemini, therefore i have less for web, including youtube or whatever.
