Midnight Pub

Stumbles in the door...

~mouse

Ah bartender and fellow pubians, 'tis good to see the place and all of you again! A large mug of hot, sweet tea for me, and whatever these good fellows desire.

I notice it's been over a month since I last graced these walls. Missed the place and people.

So, where're I been...

Anxiety

I am still anxious but coping. I am very grateful to the Canadian Broadcasting Company for both their text only news site, and the factual, less sensational style of reporting. I especially like the fact images are not automatically downloaded, and it's your choice to see them.

I also only read it once a day and usually only in the morning, not at night to ruminate.

I must write a thank you...

Demotion

I am being demoted at work.

It is a administrative reorganisation thing, unique I guess to huge administrations.

Same job, same money - for now, different title (under-minion)

Someone somewhere does not know what I do, and luckily management are asking awkward questions...

A kind of kick in the ego

COVID

Had the bug. Thankfully the symptoms were like a bad head cold. Worse thing was the lack of sleep. I am grateful for the jabs. I also appreciate it can be far worse.

Seeing the little positive line appearing within a few seconds was a bit of a surprise.

I hope others here have, or do, fare as well as I.

Password

Yep, I spent a week looking for my password. It was not in the usual safe place, thankfully found it.

Note to self: no days off from being organised.

Nice to see how busy it's been in my absence, one hopes there's no correlation.

:-)

You all have a good and safe one.

I feel you there ~mouse, especially about that anxiety. I've been practicing mindfulness which have helped me from completely losing it, but somehow my mind can justify that as a reason to keep bad doomscrolling habits. We'll get through this, together!

Bore da, ~mouse! (I almost called you ~llygoden 😃) Glad you're back. I echo what ~inquiry said about life circumstances being a lot of everything, may things continue to improve for you!

Sounds like someone in upp. man. needed to make a space for their friend's kid, but didn't want to fire anyone. This could be a blessing.

Worse thing was the lack of sleep.

Had this last week. Fever, cough, chills, no sleep. The worst thing for me was the fever, as I literally could not read or watch a screen. I just sat there during the day, mentally torturing myself with all my life's mistakes. I also had to work through it too, since I'd asked my boss for a few days to work on a side project with a different group and it'd taken me weeks/months to convince him to say yes. Worst of all, I did not know I had covid, I just thought it was a Flu because none of the lateral flows registered positive. Fast forward to yesterday where I saw a faint streak on two of the tests.

I'm in a state now where I'm not sure whether I *had* covid last week and now I'm on the recovery stage, or if I had the Flu last week and am now about to have covid. Fun times.

Wow, that's a lotta everything but fun.

Your "less sensational style of reporting" regarding the Canadian Broadcasting Company got me remembering how much I used to appreciate the anchor

Lynne Russell

for what I considered "facially unbiased reporting", because I swear she kept the same facial expressing regardless the topic/story, thus to me not attempting to covertly sway viewers in directions/degrees not actually present in the verbiage.

I considered that in stark contrast to most other news anchors/reporters, who from my point of view were practicing becoming face contortionists whenever in front of the camera....
