The moon was in a much better location tonight. It was nice not having to hurry the observation, taking the extra time makes a large impact not just in the sketch but also in the enjoyment of the endeavor itself!
The atmospheric turbulence was noticable tonight however, and I had to take extra time viewing a few features to ensure that I was "seeing" them correctly.
The terminator is bordering the sketch to the north west. It created an interesting swath of shadows lining the edge of the J Herschel crater (the shallow crater to the west). Pythagoras and Babbage are concealed behind the terminator further into the west.
Sinus Iridum with its two promontories are located just outside of the bounds of this sketch to the south (see journal entry 2024-07-16).
