a persuasive radio host

I turned on the radio while driving and caught a pundit reviewing the actions of several politicians with whom his own beliefs did not align. He relayed some meeting that occurred, summarized the content, and added hefty doses of his own opinion of the events. Except he didn’t actually evaluate the events.

He systematically reviewed what went on but instead of refuting any assertions made or explaining the problems of any of the events, he instead relayed a weaker interpretation of each event and paired it with healthy doses of satire, ridicule, and tying many of the elements to commonly demonized topics.

The content was reviewed in a line by line fashion with a great deal of repetition where each previous item was repeated before moving on to the next.

Item A, Item B, Item A, Item B, Item C, Item A, Item B, Item C, Item D, and so on.

Some of the items were openly mocked, some subtly mocked, but almost everything was “explained” or tied to some easily relatable negative thing so that it was obvious to the listener what their opinion should be. There was not a great deal of evidence for any of the assertions, but it was very cleverly relayed in a fashion that was likely to maximize the retention of the content for the listener.

I was driving, but when I stopped I made the following notes so I would remember enough to make the above comments. These are the original bullets I made, then about seven hours later I updated the note.
