On the drive down from Melbourne I saw three or four gannets[1] wheeling about near Spout Creek, & some Sooty Oystercatchers[2] at the far end of North Lorne. Stunning crisp white & sooty black. Lots of Blue wrens[3] about when I went for a ride, & then on a late walk when we drove to the pub & walked out to the pier & back.

Very calm water & hardly any wind, could see down to the bottom from the pier, but no visible fish or stingrays.

No sign of any Black cockies[4] either, although plenty of other cockatoos; Galahs[5], White cockies[6] & Corellas[7]. We didn't see any Black cockies in June either
