We went out for a morning family walk along Scotchmans Creek upstream to the Huntingdale wetlands, around in a big figure eight and back again. Started on Atkinson street near the tree where last year there was a Tawny frogmouth nesting — I'll have to keep my eyes on the spot to see if they come back this year.
Across Huntingdale road and into the wetlands; check on what's current in the waterbirds. Surprised to see a pair of Black ducks[1] with ducklings, not surprised to see Noisy miners[2] being noisy and mobbing and chasing everything they can find, wattlebirds, each other, a raven, an ibis, even including a Nankeen night heron[3] that they'd disturbed and chased up out of the ti-tree where it was roosting quietly. We'll have to be thankful for them this time, without their obnoxious behavioru we'd have walked straight past and not seen it
