It all went horribly wrong this evening, injury in the family and threw the rest of the week into disarray. It's taken until Sunday to get back on top of things and see if I can delve back through my memory and jot down a snippet from the days here or there.
Tuesday evening riding home from work I'd just passed under the Monash freeway, heading north along Forster road -- which I have a bad habit of typing as Foster road -- and looked up at the unmistakable silhouettes of a pair of black cockies[1] flying overhead, across the road and eastwards upstream along the creek with the long slow wingbeats.
The rest of the way home was roosting noises as every started to settle for the evening, much the same as the past few days; Pied currawong[2], Noisy miner[3], Grey butcherbird[4], Rainbow lorikeets5], none really seen, but all heard and 99% recognised.
