2021/0508/2145 -- urban birds

A day at home in the house and in the garden, little out of the ordinary to see and not much of the ordinary either. During a walk up to the shops in the morning a flock of 20 or so Little ravens[1] were swirling around overhead, flying between the roofs of the various apartment buildings where they seem to roost. The big flock of feral pigeons[2] is still down at the west end of the shopping mall, feeding on scraps and bread crumbs thrown out to them, and crapping on every bit of footpath and fixture around. Back at home a small flock of thornbills were squeaking in the bay tree, I'm fairly sure they're Brown thornbills[3], but they're very hard to pin down for long enough to get a good look at them. Other than that, just the Indian mynas[4] in the plum tree and on the fence and in the bird bath and on the lawn... and everywhere really.
