2020/1030/1700 — Birds and reptile

Glen Iris wetlands on my daily ride again, but after a bit of an exploration around Ferndale track and "Back creek", a location new to me. Nothing much to see, shouted at by the ubiquitous Willy wagtails[1], still seeing the families of dusky moorhen[2] with chicks, and a pair of Peewees[3] on their nest on a branch hanging out over Gardiners creek.

Then on the Scotchmans creek bike path on the approaches to the footbridge over Warrigal road I had to swerve as a skink wriggled quickly across directly under my wheels. A decent size, probably 20cm, I'd like to think it was one of the Southern Water Skinks[4] that the Skinklink project[5] is creating habitat for.
