At a loss of what I'd seen today, the usual mix of squeekers and squawkers on the rides too and from work, a few miscellaneous waterfowl in the wetlands as I rode home, nothing stood out and I was loathe to miss writing something for the day. The orb spider is still there in the back garden, every morning her web is strung between the plum tree and anchored to the lawn, inconveniently across the footpath. Varying amounts each day, just a strand here or there some days, a near full web catching the morning sun others.
Late in the afternoon it poured with rain, another of the near-thunderstorms we've had for the past three days. Didn't last long and stopped in time for a glorious sunset, then as the sun went down it seemed that all the insects in the neighbourhood started up — crickets everywhere getting in and out of synchronisation and making our ears ring, roosting lorikeets shrieking as they headed back to their places in the large palm trees up at the station, a few magpies calling and somewhere nearby a couple of corellas flying past calling
