This is a wordlog for the SpellBinding puzzle (in which you construct words using the specified letters; each word must contain the anchor letter).
Yesterday's words:
EERIE EERIER ENNUI INNER INNIE INURE INURER NINE NINEPIN NIPPER PEPPIER PERI PIER PINE PINUP PIPE PIPER PIPPIN PRIER PRIZE PRIZER PUNIER PURINE REIN REPINE RIPE RIPEN RIPER RIPPER RUIN RUINER RUNNIER UNRIPE UNZIP UNZIPPER URINE ZINE ZIPPER ZIPPIER
Pangrams: UNZIPPER ((v) unzip)
Missed (thanks @JB): NIPPIER (marked by tendency to bite; brisker, snappier; more pungent; chillier); UNPIN
-ER forms galore! As some of us remember from school (pedantic mode on), comparative adjective may often be formed with -ER, and superlative, with -EST.
ENNUI: (n) a feeling of being bored and mentally tired caused by having nothing interesting or exciting to do. Currently fits me on this day 7 of isolation.
INURE: (v) To accustom to accept something undesirable. Such as my isolation. Although I am lying, it's actually kind of nice to be left alone.
INURER: (n) One who inures. Such as myself.
NINEPIN: (n) a bowling game with nine pins in a diamond-shaped configuration or tenpin configuration without a headpin; a pin used in ninepins. Technically the game is NINEPINS (singular in construction!), but Merriam-Webster's has an entry for NINEPIN as well, so I will let it be.
PERI: (n) Persian folklore: a fallen angel doing good deeds to get back; a beautiful/graceful girl.
PINUP: (n) something fastened to a wall, esp. a photo/poster of a glamorous person (adj) of/relating to pinups; designed for wall mounting.
PIPPIN: (n) an tart apple variety; a highly admired/admirable person or thing.
PURINE: (n) Chem: parent of uric-acid group C₅H₄N₄, or any derivative, especially a base (Adenine, Guanine) that is a constituent of DNA or RNA. That's half of your DNA (the other is Pyrimidines T and C). Kind of important, I think.
Another day.
