Antenna deplatforming/blockage/censorship — disclaimer: I am not up to date on news at all I (9 times out of 10) believe that both sides are dumb, left right or sideways it does not matter to me. post: If this is true, wtf? we are not exactly toddlers we can handle some text based opinions, spam sure block it, but really a hot take,MiSiNfOrMaTiOn? I am not opposed to a warning tag...

Eindeutigkeit — If you're following my puzzle series "Eindeutigkeit", you can record your progress here, and/or give feedback. I'd be interested to know if anyone is getting anywhere with it, or even trying to. Please avoid giving any spoilers, even vague ones!

Re: refuge for harmful ideas — I saw just saw this [gemini link] outstanding post from DaintyEco about certain spaces including Gemini, I believe, attracting certain kinds of people who we should be aware of. In particular, I find this quote reflects a lot of my online experience (of 25+ years) we should all be aware of the tolerance paradox at this point, and that tolerating specific extreme views can drive...

Gemini Identity — @Morgan has a prototype implementation of an identity service for Gemini. This is certainly interesting! Some quick thoughts: If this is something that people want to use, it should not rely on a single central server. Anyone should be able to self-host their identity service and servers should not assume a default one. How does this mesh with people not wanting to be tracked across...

Castledon — I enjoyed this idea for a slower social network based on medieval castles. Let me know if anyone gets around to implementing it, please.

Hospitalist Inspirations 2023-05-31 — This was a very interesting read, thank you! It looks like this might be the first in a series--if so, looking forward to the next!

How I Found Gemini — Linked is the story of how I got here. I'd be interested to hear other stories if people want to share!

How are you using gemini after Bubble? My routine before was to visit antenna, cosmos, and capcom and see if anything picked my attention. Now I check bubble to see if I have any notifications and if not then that’s it. I think that instead I should invest more in curating my feeds… but I’m curious if you’re noticed changes in your “natural” use of gemini after bubble

— Experience Does Not Require a Dualist Explanation
On Experience and the "Hard Problem" of Consciousness — This is a bit of an academic essay, but if there are any philosophy-minded people here I'd love to hear your thoughts. The paper which I'm responding to is really optional reading, I try to reconstruct the philosophical context so that you don't have have already read anything in order to understand what I'm saying. I find this super fun, and my...

Tuesday morn — Hi textmonger! I've been enjoying your posts. Since you mention s/discuss, it seems more than appropriate to reply to you here. Back in the 90s I'd thought that by now it would be easy to find collections of intelligent others growing closer for sharing thoughts. A little search for the right group(s), jump into the fray, enjoy. Ouch. Yeah, I remember the magic. My posts to "alt.rec.games-...

Domiply — //mediocregopher.com/posts/domiply.gmi Domiply seems like a nice idea. I’m thinking of trying it out. What do you think?

— Are we rebuilding the centralized web, minus tracking?
Here's fodder for s/discuss. How worried should we be about centralization in Geminispace?

— idiomdrotting: Brownshirts vs climate
idiomdrottning: Brownshirts vs climate — Our past selves borrowed from our future selves but now we can’t figure out a way to kick the can down the road even if we wanted to. There are going to be drastic changes needed; but I guess they will only happen when the "pain level" has increased a few more notches. The current runaway rate of new problems at least promises to deliver at some point. It was...

Feeds are a dark pattern — I definitely agree that the structure of feeds doesn’t scale past ‘tiny’ very well. A new view on posts might be enough to get me off my butt to actually contribute some code the gemini universe. gemini://tilde.town/~dzwdz/b/feeds.gmi

CircaDian: The Trouble With IDEs — This whole discussion kicked off with me advocating for coding in a proportional font; then one of the various replies mentioned the trouble with IDEs, and it's a great topic so I posted about that. Then there were some more replies and I thought we were done, but a few more drifted in; linked above. The latecomers appear to share my appreciation for...

— CircaDian: Who Likes The Likers
CircaDian: Who Likes The Likers — Thanks textmonger! I agree that it's nice to get a "heavyweight" reply on someone's capsule. But I do think there is a problem with barrier to entry for that. Maybe having both "lightweight" and "heavyweight" options will work nicely. So, here is a response to your response posted to Bubble. Let's see what happens! (If anything). I agonized over the right subspace name for responses to Gemlog posts, then decided to go big and use just "discuss". The idea of s/discuss is that it's for posts ...
