What an awful day! It started with a different puzzle that I somehow totally botched, and even though I make an effort to verify puzzles prior to running them, it slipped through, because of the special rule. I really need to make a more generic system in which rules are encoded into the puzzle itself instead of trying to match them during the creation and the deployment.

Anyway, the puzzle was crap, and I had to take it down a few hours into the game, replacing it with this one.

CHANTRY: an endowment for the chanting of masses commonly for the founder. Clearly I do not understand the meaning of 'endowment' here. Let's look that up. 'ENDOWMENT': the act or process of endowing, or something that is endowed, or natural capacity, power, or ability. Ahem, one of these, eh? 'ENDOW':to furnish with an income, or to furnish with a dower. Fuck. 'DOWER':the part of or interest in the real estate of a deceased spouse given by law to the surviving spouse during the surviving spouse's life or 'DOWRY', sense 1. Fuck. 'DOWRY': 1)law : the money, goods, or estate that a woman brings to her husband in marriage 2) a natural talent or gift 3)archaic, law : dower sense 1. Full circle. So much for Merriam Webster.

Dictionary.com (not my first choice):

an endowment for the singing or saying of Mass for the souls of the founders or of persons named by them.
a chapel or the like so endowed.
the priests of a chantry endowment.
a chapel attached to a church, used for minor services.

Somehow, I am not quite getting the meaning here. I will have to give up for now.

HARRY: to harrass, ravage, devastated.

TARRY: to delay, linger etc.

TATTY: worn, frayed, or delapidated. Not tattooed, but rather,

TRANNY: well, you could refer to the transmission of you car as that (if you are some kind of a redneck), but more likely it is a reference to a transgendered person (also used by rednecks, and former president Trump). Awful. To be avoided.
