If you haven't seen any of the previous Blondie movies, you don't need to, because this one rehashes the plot of every single one of them. Dagwood and Blondie need money because of a foolish mistake, and they hatch a scheme to get it, and somehow another woman comes between them which almost leads to a divorce. Dagwood does something dumb that almost costs him his job, but because of a construction deal coming through for Mr. Dithers, all is forgiven (honestly, this is the plot of every single one of them, going back to the beginning).
In this near divorce, Blondie threatens to go to an attorney, but doesn't, and instead goes to a fortune teller, who Dagwood had been to previously, and who had predicted he'd meet a dark eyed brunette some time in the near future, which made Blondie jealous. This time she doesn't predict that, because it's clearly a scam, so Blondie decides not to divorce him, even though he had met a dark eyed brunette earlier.
Speaking of scams, the plot involves a song contest that they have to win to get the money back, and Alvin and Alexander suggest a brilliant plan: Plagiarism! Dagwood also loses his voice and is unable to sing his song, so they just play a record to have him lip sync it. Later, he predictably has a Milli Vanilli moment when the record breaks.
Dagwood has gotten significantly less violent ever since that dog show. He hasn't punched anyone in quite a while, which is a shame.
