There's been some... well... "interesting" stuff happening with me lately. Things of a religious/spiritual nature that I don't feel belong in my normal Gemlog, which is more based around personal and project thoughts. And though I suppose religious/spiritual stuff could easily be considered personal as well, I just feel that posts on these subjects need to go in a different place. So... here we are, a second gemlog.
This one is going to be more focused on religion, specifically the pagan religion I follow and things that I learn as I follow my path. It will be a sort of public version of a personal grimoire or Book of Shadows, but in a journal format, and based on experiences that I've been having as of late. These experiences could be called "visions", where two or three deities visit and connect with me during my meditations and practices. These deities are the Mother Goddess and two emanations of her, Macha and Morrigan. They have been revealing a path to me that all four of us feel should be shared. Hence this gemlog 😄 Besides, sometimes I just need a place to sort my own thoughts out as well!
I've been a Wiccan for eleven years, and my religious path has been firmly influenced by my Wicca-related studies. For example, my outlook on ethics, my cosmological outlook, and my actual practices (rituals, rites, prayers, etc.) are all from my Wiccan side. I celebrate the Wheel of The Year as best as I can (real life has a nasty habit of getting in the way, you know), I pray and call out to The God and The Goddess, I observe the Wiccan Rede as a base for my ethics, and I practice magick. Given these core tenants, I see myself as Wiccan, though not one that prescribes to any particular tradition except my own. This is the main reason why I'm labelling this gemlog as "pagan".
Yeah so Macha and Morrigan both approach me in my visions, as well as a greater Mother Goddess. All goddesses flow from the Mother Goddess, each representing one or a set of her aspects. Likewise, all gods flow from The God, each representing one or a set of his aspects. Both the Mother Goddess and The God are emanations from a greater, unknowable force that I've been calling The One.
Macha has approached me as a mother-like figure, one who teaches me about one's self and how to be a good person, a goddess of comfort and love. Morrigan has approached me as a goddess of protection, and one who will teach how to deal with the outside world.
I'll go more into this in later posts, but in my recent visitations with Macha and Morrigan, I've come to learn that The God tends to be involved with the more scientific side of reality, one rooted in observation. Meanwhile, the Mother Goddess is involved more with the metaphysical side, and with issues such as faith. I'm still not 100% sure why my path is involving the goddesses more than the gods, but I'm sure this will be revealed as time goes on. This gemlog is, after all, a continual work-in-progress.
