Single logs from this month:
As expected, my region was among th last to see the beginning of spring. While locations at least one hour away have been reporting observations since the beginning of March, I didn't get to see much until the 20th and the 27th of the month, marking a few days prior to the 14th the slow start of the season in my area.
Despite having planned to check the zones one last time for this month on the 30th, the weather forecast was way off for my state. Instead of "mostly sunny" conditions with 19°C, a thick blanket of clouds began to move towards my study area after midday, preventing temperatures from rising above 13°C near the ground; 5m-temperatures (temperatures five meters above the ground) briefly reached 17°C. Because I was occupied with other duties prior to midday, the only observations I managed to make were two A. io in front of my home, two other butterflies from the same species during the car ride (one at the northern outskirt of my nearest town, another roughly one kilometer northeast to the this year's "special area").
Overall, the list for this month encompasses three species:
Few other bugs were seen, as well, most notably the seven-spot ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata). Other than that, it appears that April will be the month where spring truly will kick off. The weather forecast for Easter Monday and the following two days predicts conditions similar to those I witnessed on the 30th, minus the Sahara dust.
