With some sporadic clouds, very weak winds and 22°C (10:38 AM), I already was in the midst of writing this month's summary when my mother convinced me to take a walk with her.

As most of the additional spots remain similarly sparse, I discovered hundreds of caterpillars on the stinging nettles located at the northwestern brink of Zone III, all of which either were just entering or ending the fourth stage of their lives. I will return to this spot in the coming days to catch a few pupae and make some conservative estimations about this year's parasitoides.
By the time they will hatch, the butterfly bushes will have wilted completely. Throughout the years, the only butterfly species feeding on it within my study areas are A. io, A. urticae (last seen in June, 2023) and V. atalanta, indicating a surprising lack of appeal among most butterflies.
C. mercuriale, meanwhile, has begun to expand to the center of my village, now having reached the wooden bridge next to the church.
