It is, once again, time for the annual "Old Computer Challenge", and I am, by all metrics, fashionably late. I only started setting up my EeePC 4G on Sunday, and had some difficulties making it work how I wanted it to work, but now it runs alpine linux 3.20 (might jump to edge at some point) with dwm, that I have tricked into thinking XTerm is st so it launches a more sensible Terminal without me having to compile it myself. It runs quite alright, but that shouldn't be surprising with such light software. Distro and WM choice aside my setup is much the same as last year (and to what i use the rest of the year on my main computer), Hardware: Mouse and Keyboard hooked up to the EeePC to save my hands and wrists, Software: weechat running on my homeserver, newsraft for collecting rss feeds, mpv for playing back media, dillo for some web browsing (though i tried to run firefox, just for the heck of it, and it actually runs, if very slowly), nvim for writing, btop to keep an eye on system load. I have not yet installed neomutt but I have no doubts it will run like greased lightning as well.
I am doing some home improvement work at the moment that had mostly stalled for a long while (reconditioning a shower cabin that had moldy grout, some barely attached tiles and a worn out tub)
HP Jornada 680: Since I got some CF Cards I have gotten the old jlime vargtass running, and, based on Artur's work to get modern Linux back in shape, buildroot. I have some more Plans but I don't want to commit to anything yet, so I shall not tell you people what those plans are ;P
This gemini capsule: I will not attempt to daily blog OCC, but there are some recipes that I want to add to finally put some stuff into that category, a little HowTo for installing alpine with manual partitioning that exists in the form of two little square paper notes with my horrible handwriting, and ... idk I'm sure there was something else I wanted to add, but I got distraced by trying to find out what those non-sticky notes are called and now I can't remember it, maybe some stuff about jlime.
