gemini: a breath of fresh air

hi. i guess this'll be the first thing i'll write for my gemlog.

gemini is a nice thing. truly is. i loved using the web in the past, but nowadays, it just feels like a chore to me.

i could go on and on. i just wasn't enjoying things anymore. the real human connection is gone, and it's just a place for massive corporations to do their thing.

then i found gemini. i was instantly hooked.

the protocol and gemtext in general is pretty primitive, sure. that is undeniable. but that is kind of what drew me in. it's a callback to the early stages of www, when there was no real monetary incitement behind everything, and people just made personal sites because they wanted to.

most gemini capsules are made simply because the creator wanted to put out something to the world, and i've missed that in the modern age of the web.

gemini does have big limitations, but i love them. i love that it's just text only, that fact alone gets rid of everything seen on modern bloated websites, and just gets straight to the point.

since i've started using it, i've just been exploring geminispace all the time, just seeing what i can find. i love stumbling upon some random person's gemblog, or random capsules in general. every time i connect to a gemini capsule, i just feel that human connection as i read their thoughts and writings.

it is truly just a breath of fresh air and i'm glad something like gemini exists.
