I'm a weather fan. Have been as long as I can remember. I
found many ways to get weather (mainly current conditions
and the forecast) over the years. Here's a list of all the
different ways to get weather, that I know of:
If you're in the US, chances are you live within range of
a NOAA weather radio tower that transmits current condit-
ions and forecasts 24/7. You'll need a radio capable of WB
(weather band) or a suitable shoutcast stream to receive
these live weather broadcasts, as read out by a robot voice.
Commercial radio, AM radio, in particular has many news and
talk stations scattered across the world - almost all of
which provide regular weather reports & forecasts. Be advised
that this is not as information-dense as NOAA radio. There
will be regular news, traffic, and oh so many commercials
sprinkled in between.
You can also get weather forecasts during certain hours (i.e.
the 6:00 news) from your local broadcast TV stations with a
digital antenna.
In the US, you even have a choice of national weather channels,
including these, ranked from best to worst:
You can also get current conditions, radar, and forecasts from
the following websites and many more:
I couldn't find a capsule for this that currently works. If you
know one, please send it my way! I will update.
You can join various IRC channels on EFNet, LiberaChat and other
servers, and use one of their user-maintained bots to get the weather,
usually to the syntax of something like this:
In your favorite terminal, just type: curl wttr.in
Or just stick your hand out the window! Bye bye!~
