I'm new to Gemini and just poking around

I love the idea of easy, low cognitive load posting of thoughts and information, without concern for form/UI. However, I also am having a hard time understanding how content could be effectively promoted without the ecosystem that exists around the http protocol (and javascript).

I'm assuming that this harkens back to the days of gopher, which I miss.
