Not many know, but this project is special in many ways, for example, the first blood type to be considered for research to be screened for NFT (Nuclear Transfer of Cells) is O+ but not many are aware of this. More so, the first allogeneic stem cell transplantation to be done for Type-A patients in the UK took place using blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells from O+ individuals. These days, a lot of the stem cell transplants are based on CD34+ or CD20+ donors as other blood cell types are often out of the picture.
Thus, blood plasma is being collected from O+ individuals from a family in order to utilize the stem cells that are from their blood. This being a good idea and ideal for the O+ recipient who wants to have all the best in terms of treatment, we decided to create a piece of art featuring various colored strips of plasma from blood donors that come from various blood groups.
