I've been buying used HP desktops for years on Amazon. The last couple I7 machines with decent RAM and drives I got for around $300 or so.

The last university surplus sale I went to had tons of office computers that could easily be repurposed as basic home servers starting at $30~ish USD.
Does anyone know how to get old stuff trashed by enterprises? Is it a good way to get cheaper stuff?
