Is it only me or do you also think that Lagrange Android needs a little bit of acceleration when you scroll up & down? @skyjake

Hi Geminauts, I am planning to shutdown gnuser.land pretty soon. There are two main reasons: I'll move to another domain and I'll host a couple of friends involved in the Gemini ecosystem as well; and because my VPS will drop the support for FreeBSD in a couple of month. I am almost convinced to move the new capsule on OpenBSD.Amsterdam, this allows me to contribute back too! (GNU)/Linux and myself are like separated at home and I barely afford its stink, I'd like to avoid any possible interaction with it. 🤢 I'll keep you posted... 😉

ASCII-ART Generator??? Apparently FreeBSD has only tools to convert ASCII into Bitmap, I am looking for the opposite? Do you have any recommendation? Thanks!

Eventually I upgraded RAM (2G) and disk (128G ssd) of this very old Acer Aspire One Netbook that I am trying to convert in my Gemini dedicated mini-workstation. I put on it OpenBSD as OS and Window Maker ad Windows Manager; my main tool will be xterm, tmux, rclone, aerc mail... GUI apps will be Sylpheed, Lagrange, Gpicview, mupdf... To browse internet there aren't real solutions, this netbook simply can't run any modern webpage, besides using any Gemini Client + DucklingProxy an alternative might be Brosh + Firefox as backend. I hope with this mini station to deliver faster and often more articles... 🙏

I wonder if the people out there will ever realize that, after billion and billion of whatever bank currency, there is not a website and a browser that on a mobile renders the text so gorgeously as Lagrange. 🤔 🤷♂️

Asciidoc to GemText Does anyone know if any dude has, by any chance, created a tool to convert documents from "AsciiDoc" to "GemText" ? Thanks!
💬 2 Replies · 1 Thumb · 2 years ago
@marmaladefoo I'd like to convert some html documentation in GemText, I am not a coder though and I was thinking perhaps I may use Duckling-proxy to do the heavy part. If this would be feasable would you share with me further tips to automize a bit the process? Thanks, G.

Today I have just discovered another Gemini 💎 This is something I have been thinking a lot but never have found time to dedicate to. A super cool dude is bringing "public domain" books into the Gemini Space and he/she is making them available for all! I have to say the result is astonishing on Lagrange Android! The GemText has, again, demonstrated very well how much is suitable for a minimal but yet elegant typesetting composition! Please enjoy "The Locrian Zone Library" : gemini://gemini.locrian.zone/library/index.gmi

dear @skyjake Lagrange on Android is very addictive... I have a request or suggestion (it depends by your mood) to improve the UI. My thumbs would be really happy if you can compact/move the: URL Bar the tabs the toolbar At the bottom, actually the toolbar is already there... Also I like the tabs the way they are, however modern mobile browsers show tab as preview or something like that, this wouldn't make sense with Gemini since everything look the same. Not sure if you can do that but maybe when the tabs bar is too crowd you may simply slide left or right or click a dropdown button and show off all the tabs. However I prefer the first solution. Thanks!

Did anyone already create a program that convert (html) rss feed in GemText so you can read them in your favorite Gemini client? 🤷

I recently bought a Kinlde copy of "Mastery Httpd and Relayd" by MWL and while reading an e-book is, despite the medium, a pleasent experience, this book is really poorly formatted, at least based on my parameters. This book would be perfectly readable in a GemText format with lesser weird formatting issues, all this preamble has driven to my following questions: Does it exist a Gemini Client design to work on a E-Ink screen? Are you aware about any related project? Thanks! 💜

@skyjake I love Lagrange, personally is one of the elements that makes Gemini so special however there is one aspect that really drives me crazy! There is this blocking behavior that when your are typing something you can't leave that page, you can't do anything else than just replying. For the desktop version you may open a second view however when you type something the focus goes on the active window so it does not really solve this issue. It would be fantastic if typing would belong exclusively to the parent's tab letting the user to freely browsing across all the others tabs. Can you do anything to improve that behavior

Again over the issue about: gemini.circumlunar.space The mailing list is over the "official" web page is down. This is not a good service for Gemini, people are concerning about "external" attack but the problem are coming internally. Today I was unable to provide the official documentation, I opted for "geminiquickst.art" but also this page is linked to circumlunar. This situation must be fixed urgently who knows the people involved should try to contact them. The current state cannot continue anymore! Unless "we" elect another domain as official documentation and accordingly we change all our references to circumlunare.

@skyjake did you plan to add a spellchecking function, in the near future, to Lagrange (all versions) ? Thanks, tgl

The brand new shit from Gugl... An improved tag system, server side, able to leak your data bypassing the browser. Gemini can sanitize the WWW if machine learning can enhance software like "DucklingProxy". All the folks with knowledge to do that should really take this seriously. The article is very detailed: https://chromium.woolyss.com/f/HTML-Google-Tag-Manager-the-new-anti-adblock-weapon.html

I dream an Email Client that adheres to the Gemini Philosophy: less is more; and that renderizes email in GemText and uses ducklingProxy to translate html emails... 😌

Ok this is just a pure curiosity... But how much would be safe doing Online Banking on Gemini? Just forget about authentication and let us pretend that we use a super protect method... Thanks 😁

Hi folks, do you know how to edit bookmarks in Lagrange 4 Android?

Eventually I fully joined the Lagrange for Android wagon; importing the ceritifcats had been a bit clumsy tough. Ariane has been great but Lagrange is on a total different level. 🍺

Hi guys which kind of certifcates should I use on Deedum? Mine ends in ".pem" but it says "bad" for both! Thanks! 👍👍👍

Our dear #stack or #stacksmith just dropped a bombshell about Gemini and TLS. He is very detailed about his points hence I would take it seriously. However, even though I am the least expert, I still see some advantages using TLS rather plain communication. -Client like Lagrange makes create an identity (if identity is equal to a certificate) a breeze. -If the communication is plain and clear, stealing an identity even using "digital signatures" or PGP would be easier. -PGP doesn't seem more intuitive than TLS Certificates. -With TLS and CA you can create a restricted access even in Gemini. By the way having encryption is fine. gemini://gemini.ctrl-c.club/~stack/gemlog/2022-02-13.notls.gmi
