someone asked me how im able to refuse to use stuff that normal people use on principle so i have this really cool thing that my psychiatrist thinks is ocd where i am obsessed with the idea that i am obligated to assume nobody else will have the willingness to change the world for the better so i am thus morally required to do it all myself and i tie like every thing ever into it so because of my obsessive compulsion to make be good enough to make the world a better place i just cant stand by and passively let things i dont agree with happen. so the answer is mental illness like usual

@clseibold "If a condition negatively affects your life by making it harder" Do not worry, I would not be getting help with it if I didn't think it was something negatively affecting my life enough to warrant psychiatrict help. I've learned the hard way what happens when you try recklessly to treat something. · 7 months ago

@clseibold "this is a little offensive to the millions of people that are trying to improve the world." It's important to note that I dont sincerely believe that is a true fact. I know its not true consciously; its just a subconscious idea that drives my thoughts and actions, mostly against my will · 7 months ago

But I really want to emphasize this point - OCD or any other mental condition or neurodiversity *doesn't make you a lesser or worse human being*. It is your actions that matter. The point of therapy is to make life easier for you and allow you to connect to others. That's it, that's all it does.

If you are perfectly fine with the way you are, then you don't need to do anything. But if you are exhausting yourself everyday and cannot stop even if you wanted to, then there is nothing wrong with getting help for that. · 7 months ago

It sounds like you possibly *do* have OCD with the way you describe this, and because you said a doctor told you you had it. I feel you are fundamentally misunderstanding what it means to have OCD or any other condition like this. OCD doesn't make you lesser or bad, but it can affect your life by making you exhausted or overly risk-averse. If a condition negatively affects your life by making it harder, only then is it considered a condition that one could get help with. · 7 months ago
