Midnight Poll V

~rrraksamam

Do you think there's life on other planets/ galaxies?

Do you think they'd be curious enough to visit earth?

What do you imagine life on other planets/ galaxies might be like?

What do their species look like? How do they talk, eat, sleep and work?

What does their technology look like?

Are they smarter/more advanced than us?

In order,

Yes definitely! Just statistically too likely.

If they knew of us, they probably would have an interest in visiting.

The last couple questions kind of together:

I think that visually they'd be very different from us, but socially somewhat similar. I think to have an intelligent species, it has to evolve with competitiveness, which leads to a society similarish to ours.

I am curious about if they would sleep though, it feels like a thing that existed with life on our planet very early.

I also think that their technology physically may be pretty similar to ours if they are sufficiently advanced (or very different if they're sufficiently more lol), because our tech has been optimized and shrunk pretty far. Software, who knows.

Part of me wants to say smarter. There are some that definitely aren't, but if we're talking about social intelligent life, I think we're a little under the galactic average globally.

This is my first time seeing the midnight poll so I'm happy to submit to it!

So hard to say! But I can't rule it out.

Sometimes I think, the surest sign that /intelligent/ life exists out there, is that none of them have tried to contact us.

From memory, stolen from Calvin and Hobbes, iirc.

Well, as an old fashioned dude with a degree in astrophysics: distances to where ever are so absurd, that it is prime to keep this planet alive and clean.

<scrolls some news aggregation site titles>

How could they possibly not be? ;-)

Who knows

I think they've already been here and they're not impressed. I suspect they've seen what we do to each other and don't want us doing it to them.

There is always the possibility that we are currently the most advanced civilization in our universe

It is tough to imagine what they would be like since all the life we know is from our home planet.
