British Columbia is returning to
"normal" -- the mask mandate is over.

I'm still wearing a mask in stores
though. It's recommended if you
haven't had both your shots, and my
second shot is a week away. Even so,
store employees keep telling me, "you
don't have to wear that in here." I
keep telling them that I haven't had
my second shot and it's recommended
that you wear a mask until then. I'm
sure there are *many* people wandering
around without masks who haven't had
any shots. It makes sense. People who
haven't had any shots are typically
(but of course not exclusively) the
same people who don't want to wear a
mask. The whole COVID protocol
business is riddled with
inconsistencies.

My COVID confession:

I totally enjoyed the slowdown.

Our "lockdowns" were limited in scope,
and I don't require much social
interaction. To be honest, the people
who complained that they missed all
the public events and get-togethers
kind of puzzle me. I find many (but
not all) social gatherings painful.

For me, working from home was a lot of
fun and going out walking without a
soul around was wonderful. I'm not
looking forward to the resumption of
life-as-it-was, but I guess that's
what's on the horizon.

I stumbled acrosss a new-to-me
terminal gopher client that I quite
like: it's called Phetch[1]. Great
colours and nice navigation. Hint: the
forward arrow sends you forward
through your navigation history; the
enter key follows a link. It took me a
couple of seconds to realize that.

----------

The Raspberry Pi of Death is down!
This causes me some anguish because I
follow the gopher holes listed in
Jynx's Moku-Pona/Phlog Roll a lot.
Hopefully it will return to service
soon!

Shout out to nm03! I've been enjoying
your phlog[2].

St John Karp's review of Allan
Sherman's The Rape of the A.P.E. is
very well written, insightful, and
worth a read[3].

Solderpunk's list of gopher clients. It is there.
