@danrl Harmonically related material dimensions, powers of two, and fractions: good super powers when the goal is build an object using symmetry and proprotion.

The units could be meters and decimeters or in bratwurts and spätzles. The valuable thing is how we integrate the math into the materials. Metric is a great idea, but only using decimal math and powers of ten ties its hands for certain situations. I doubt anyone will be selling any 3/4cm sheet goods any time soon though ;) · 1 year ago

@whixr when i arrived i struggled with ft and inches but then i learned how much sense it all makes in construction. dimensional lumber and standard sheet goods and so on. this is all much smarter than my european brain anticipated. a chainsaw is a hillbilly’s pocket knife 🥹 · 1 year ago
