Paddy Leonard, 8 Jul
A judge at Derry Magistrate's Court has said that he would not rule on
an alleged breach of bail that was not accepted at this stage.
Stephen Mongan (18) of Clon Elagh in Derry appeared charged with
breaching three of his bail conditions on July 4.
A police officer told the court that a witness had told them that they
had been on a video call with a female and could see Mongan in the
background in breach of a condition that he had no contact with the
woman.
The witness also said that Mongan was flicking through an iPhone which
was also a breach of his bail.
The officer said that Mongan was also prohibited from entering Derry.
Defence solicitor Keith Kyle said that his client did not accept the
breach of bail.
He said that the defendant lived in Newtownstewart and could only
assume that the 'allegations were made up maliciously'.
District Judge Alan White said that if the breach was not accepted then
the witness would need to be produced to give evidence.
He said he would release Mongan on bail until July 23 and make a
judgement then.
