All About Cork: Douglas Gymnastics club host end of season displays

Douglas Gymnastics Club, based at Southside industrial Estate,
Pouladuff Rd, Cork, was a hive of activity recently for their end of
season displays for children from eight to 17.

The young stars got the opportunity to showcase their talents, which
some had been working on for months, to family members and friends.

Displays started on Tuesday and ran until the following Sunday as
hundreds of children got the chance to perform to a captive audience.
The advanced competitive gymnasts for Douglas Gymnastic Club in high

The routines included ones on the floor, beam, rings and high bar as
gymnasts from recreational to advanced all took part in the event.
There were also a number of awards presented across the few days,
including Club Person of the Year, Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the
Year and individual gymnasts awards.

A spokesperson for the club congratulated all who took part in the
displays for their hard work leading up the event and said it was great
to see so many young gymnasts taking part.
Some members will continue right through the summer, while others will
take a break for a few weeks.

One of their former gymnasts, Meg Ryan, represented Ireland at the
Olympics in Tokyo and on the evidence of the displays she won’t be the
last to reach that level from the club.
