So I recently installed Gentoo Linux and this article is just some of my thoughts.
So to install Gentoo I mostly just followed this, I know you are meant to just use the wiki but this guide was actually great, thanks Denshi!
Other than that the installation went pretty smoothly if I remember correctly I didn't run into any issues other than a few things like installkernel-gentoo now being called installkernel and me not knowing that I had to add a USE flag for something.
Gentoo has been great so far, one thing that is a bit annoying is the compile time but it's still pretty good since I have a fairly new laptop. (About 2021)
Most of the apps I use don't take long to compile and Gentoo has binaries now so that's helpful.
USE flags are also nice because I can choose what I want to compile into packages e.g. vorbis support for mpd.
Anyway thanks for reading these are just a few of my thoughts, contact me to let me know what you think.
Bye!
