I installed OpenBSD on my laptop a little while ago (how many operating systems have I been installing?!) and its great so heres what I think (this article will also have other stuff in it as well).
The install was fairly easy, I ran into a few problems though like my disk not being detected, that was fixed with disabling VMD in bios and then the Wi-Fi.
Unfortunatly I have a laptop with a new(?) Wi-Fi card, (why can't the companys make it work with free firmware) so after tinkering around for a while I couldn't get it to work, I eventually went I brought a USB Wi-Fi adaptor - its not exactly fast but it works.
After these hurdles were past the installation was (thankfully) pretty easy everything basically just worked.
After installing it was pretty easy to set everything up, except dwm looked big, but after getting help all I needed to do was change the DPI.
One characteristic of OpenBSD is its very good documentation. Its very well written and they even consider missing documentation a bug!
As well as this OpenBSD takes a very strong stance on security - it being its main goal. And the project also makes lots of useful software in OpenBSD like OpenSSH (used in many operating systems including most Linux distros), Libressl etc.
They even added support for a new processor after one day.
But well OpenBSD is very good it still has issues, two of those being you're not going to get as good battery life and preformance as Linux, because OpenBSDs commitment to security means that it will often not have a feature if it compromises security.
Though to be fair I haven't noticed it being slower or having worse battery life, it would really make a difference if you are playing games (and it supports very few big popular games anyway) and doing graphics/CPU intensive stuff.
I have been looking for an old ThinkPad for a little while, I have not used one but I have heard they are great for multiple reasons like them having very good keyboards, easy to take apart and Librebootable.
I would like to have an older one like a T500 because these can be Librebooted without binary blobs, which is always better.
I would like a T400 - I would prefer 14 inch to 15 inch, except I have heard that the screen is bad and bad viewing angle and such.
The X200 looks pretty good, its pretty small but I don't really think it matters that much. It doesn't have a touchpad so it will be a chance to get used to using a TrackPoint as I have wanted to.
For a bit I have been trying to use text mode browsers when possible, the modern web is full of junk, ads, tracking, and JavaScript. I am using w3m as my browser it works pretty well and I have a vim-like configuration.

Goodbye.
