"Stout Brewed with Pecans, Wheat & Rye. One quarter aged in bourbon barrels."
This is about as far as you could get from yesterday's Weisse. Personally, I have been digging barrel aged beers this past year, and this one from Stone is a solid example of how to do it *right*.
Dark, smooth, and rich. The pecans add a noticeable and pleasant aftertaste that compliment the other flavors in the beer. The bourbon gives it that high ABV kick that slightly numbs my mouth and throat. A lot of the barrel aged stouts that I've tried lately have added strong extra flavors like coffee or chocolate. The straightforwardness of this one is a nice change of pace. I'm really enjoying it.
Definitely!
Three or four cans.
