Staying ahead of the storm today, down south and around Karkarook lake. Sadly, a roadkill turtle with a crushed shell beside one of the gravel paths - I suspect it had been hit by a car up on Warrigal road while making its way back to the lake. I tried to take a photo and report it via the turtleSAT App but something wasn't working and it wouldn't upload or register
Storms coming up from the south-west, birds moving around looking to roost as it was getting darker. A flight of seven pelicans[1] passed overhead going south, amusingly, almost on the same flight path as the light aircraft hurrying back to land at Mordialloc before the storm arrived. A couple of corellas[2], a couple of Sulphur-crested cockies[3], then on my way up past Huntingdale golf course the unmistakable sound of a pair of Yellow-tailed Black cockatoos[4] calling from the trees - definite harbingers of the rain
