Around the bike paths and call in at the Glen Iris wetlands to look about and see how things are going after last week's storms. The water looks to be surprisingly clear, but no sign of the turtle today. There's plenty of Moorhens[1] in pairs and small groups and a few Coots[2], seem to be more of the former and fewer of the latter than last year. Much of the reeds have been eaten down or trampled by them, a combination of feeding and nesting, and around in the second pond a family group of Moorhen adults and six or seven tiny fluffball chicks, looking far too small to be swimming around on the water. There was also a very noisy pair of Willy wagtails[3] doing battle with some Noisy miners[4], and a few pairs of Spotted doves[5] sitting cosily next to each other watching.
Moorhen and chick's. Pair of ww. Pairs of doves. Many noisy miner. Back ducks
