Spring time is nesting time, nesting time is territorial fightin' time. The Noisy miners[1] are territorial at the best of times, thriving in suburbia by ganging up on and driving out any other birds, during spring they seem to get worse. Today I was almost hit by a raven[2], four or five miners in shrieking hot pursuit as they drove it away from what they'd decided was their territory. The raven was flying almost at ground level, swerving from side to side to get away from them and just about went straight into the front wheel of my bike, pulling up and over me at the last second. I can see why there's pressure to cull the miners in some places to give breathing space to other indigenous birds
