2021/0914/1700 — swoopage

Fingers crossed and assorted pieces of wood touched, but I haven't yet been swooped by magpies yet this spring… I'm sure it'll happen soon. Out on today's ride and twice I thought I was being swooped, both times it seemed to be accidental; first time as a Pee-wee[1] took a shortcut across the bike track from grassy patch towards the creek, second time as a Noisy miner shot out of one tree on my left, loudly yelling, and flashed past my face to vanish into some scrub on my right.

I wonder when the first proper swoop from a magpie or butcherbird will be? Perhaps the sneaky one of the former on the Scotchmans creek track near Stephensons road, perhaps the latter are nesting again up near the corner of Paddington and Rugby roads
