Half an hour past sundown, I was putting some rubbish out in the bins as it was getting dark. Outside in the garden I could hear a blackbird[1] loudly calling from a garden or two off to the east, being answered back equally loudly from one about the same distance away to the west, off in the park along the railway. Very musical, disappointing that the only bird I can hear is an introduced pest, but still very musical
